Target
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the pregnancy-specific glycoprotein (PSG) family. This protein family and the closely related carcinoembryonic antigen cell adhesion molecule (CEACAM) gene family are both members of the immunoglobulin superfamily, and are organized as a large gene cluster. This protein is thought to inhibit platelet-fibrinogen interactions. Several studies suggest that reduced serum concentrations of PSGs are associated with fetal growth restrictions, while up-regulation of this gene has been observed in colorectal cancers. Several pseudogenes of this gene are found on chromosome 19. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode multiple protein isoforms.

Assay Principle
Aviva Systems Biology PSG9 ELISA Kit (Human) (OKCA01438) is based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay technology. An antibody specific for PSG9 has been pre-coated onto a 96-well plate (12 x 8 Well Strips) . Standards or test samples are added to the wells, incubated and removed. A biotinylated detector antibody specific for PSG9 is added, incubated and followed by washing. Avidin-Peroxidase Conjugate is then added, incubated and unbound conjugate is washed away. An enzymatic reaction is produced through the addition of TMB substrate which is catalyzed by HRP generating a blue color product that changes to yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration read by absorbance at 450 nm and is quantitatively proportional to the amount of sample PSG9 captured in the well.
