A synthesized peptide derived from human PTGER2.
Target
This gene encodes a receptor for prostaglandin E2, a metabolite of arachidonic acid which has different biologic activities in a wide range of tissues. Mutations in this gene are associated with aspirin-induced susceptibility to asthma. Prostaglandin E2 receptor (53kDa), also known as EP2, is a prostaglandin receptor for prostaglandin E2. It is encoded by the human gene PTGER2. Receptor for prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) . The activity of this receptor is mediated by G (s) proteins that stimulate adenylate cyclase. The subsequent raise in intracellular cAMP is responsible for the relaxing effect of this receptor on smooth muscle.
