It shows selectivity for σ1 over σ2 receptors, and inhibits angiotensin II-induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy in vitro and attenuates myocardial hypertrophy in vivo. In a rat model of experimental stroke, it enhances brain plasticity and sensorimotor function.
