Phenazoviridin is a newly discovered microbial free radical scavenger isolated from the culture medium of Streptomyces HR04. It is an anti-hypoxic compound with strong inhibitory activity against lipid peroxidation in rat brain homogenates and anti-hypoxic activity in mice.
