Leucyl-phenylalanine amide is an intermediate in the synthesis of γ-Secretase Inhibitor, the enzyme complex that catalyzes the cleavage of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) to produce amyloid β-peptide (Aβ) which is the major causative agent in Alzheimer disease (AD) .
