KL-6 (Human) ELISA Kit
Krebs von den Lungen-6 (KL-6) is a high molecular weight glycoprotein that belongs to the MUC-1 family. Moderate KL-6 expression is observed in type II pneumocytes and respiratory bronchiolar epithelial cells, whereas weak KL-6 expression is observed in basal cells of the terminal bronchiolar epithelium in normal lung tissues. Several studies reported increased KL-6 levels in regenerated type II alveolar epithelial cells and the serum of patients suffering from interstitial lung disease (ILD). Hence, KL-6 could serve as an efficient therapeutic target for the treatment of pulmonary diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, CTD-associated ILD, cystic fibrosis, and hypersensitivity pneumonitis. BioVision’s KL-6 (Human) ELISA kit is based on the Sandwich ELISA principle to quantitatively measure the amount of KL-6 in human serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. Test samples, Standards, and Biotinylated Detection antibody are added to the wells pre-coated with capture antibody and then washed with Wash Buffer. The HRP-Streptavidin is added and any unattached conjugates are washed off using Wash Buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected by the addition of TMB-substrate. Finally, the reaction is terminated with an acidic stop solution. The color developed is proportional to the amount of KL-6 in the sample or standard.
