Vanillyl alcohol (p- (Hydroxymethyl) guaiacol) is an orally active phenolic alcohol. Vanillyl alcohol reduces ROS generation. suppresses Bax, increases Bcl-2. Vanillyl alcohol has anti-angiogenic, anti-inflammatory, anti-nociceptive and neuroprotective effects. Vanillyl alcohol is used as a flavoring agent in foods and beverages[1][2][3].
