Mitiglinide calcium is a highly selective potassium channel blocker that stimulates insulin secretion by closing the ATP-sensitive K(+) K(ATP) channels in pancreatic beta-cells. Mitiglinide is a useful drug for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
