CP-640186 is a mixed ACC (Acetyl-CoA carboxylase) inhibitor (ACC-1 IC₅₀ = 53 nM; ACC-2 IC₅₀ = 61 nM) that lowers malonyl-CoA levels and inhibits hepatic fatty acid and triglyceride synthesis in vitro and in vivo, as well as stimulates muscle fatty acid oxidation and lowers whole body RQ in rats.
