Cell-permeable. Balicatib is a potent human cathepsin K inhibitor in vitro (IC₅₀ = 1.4 nM) with a high selectivity against human cathepsins B, L, and S (> 4,800-fold, > 500-fold and > 65,000-fold, respectively).
