Cryptotanshinone

Cryptotanshinone is a natural product isolated from the roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge that displays a variety of biological activities. Displays antitumor activity by inhibition of STAT3 (IC₅₀ = 4.6 µM). Also displays antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity and acts as an antidiabetes and antiobesity agent via activation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). Also inhibits acetylcholinesterase (AChE) (IC₅₀ = 4.09 μM) and reduction in Aβ peptide generation.
