Displays a variety of biological activities including anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anticancer and anti-angiogenic effects. Also acts as an antidepressant and anxiolytic agent. Regulates expression of the cytochrome P450 CYP3A4 and CYP2C9 and hepatic drugs metabolism. Inhibits the re-uptake of neurotransmitters in synapses (serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine, GABA, glutamate). Also acts as a potent SIRT1 and SIRT2 inhibitor.
