Cell-permeable. A selective inhibitor of cellular phosphatase complexes that dephosphorylate eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 subunit α (eIF-2α). Also protects cells from endoplasmic reticulum stress-induced apoptosis (EC₅₀ ~ 15 μM).
