Recombinant Mouse Alpha Crystallin B

Recombinant Mouse Alpha Crystallin B

Product Specifications

CAS Number

9000-83-3

Product Name Alternative

CRYAB Mouse

Gene Name

Cryab

UniProt

P23927

Cellular Locus

Cytoplasm, cytosol , Nucleus , Secreted , Lysosome , Note=Translocates to the nucleus during heat shock and resides in sub-nuclear structures known as SC35 speckles or nuclear splicing speckles. Localizes at the Z-bands and the intercalated disk in cardiomyocytes. Can be secreted; the secretion is dependent on protein unfolding and facilitated by the cargo receptor TMED10; it results in protein translocation from the cytoplasm into the ERGIC (endoplasmic reticulum-Golgi intermediate compartment) followed by vesicle entry and secretion.

Reactivity

Concentration

Lot Specific

Dilution

Dilute in PBS or medium that is identical to that used in the assay system.

Form

Liquid

Buffer

20 mM Tris

Function

May contribute to the transparency and refractive index of the lens. Has chaperone-like activity, preventing aggregation of various proteins under a wide range of stress conditions. In lens epithelial cells, stabilizes the ATP6V1A protein, preventing its degradation by the proteasome (PubMed:31786107). {PubMed:31786107}.

Storage Conditions

Store at 4°C if entire vial will be used within 2-4 weeks. Store at or below -20°C for longer periods of time. For long term storage, addition of a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) is recommended.

Specificity

Alpha Crystallin B

Formulation

Sterile-filtered colorless solution contains 20mM Tris buffer, pH 8.0 and 10% glycerol.

Buffer pH

pH 8.0

Target Background

Alpha crystallins are composed of two gene products: alpha-A (acidic) and alpha-B (basic). Alpha crystallins are induced by heat shock and are members of the small heat shock protein family. They act as molecular chaperones. In addition, alpha crystallins have autokinase activity and play a role in intracellular architecture. Alpha crystallin B is expressed in many tissues and is associated with many neurological diseases.
