PMEL17 / Melanoma gp100 Antibody
PMEL17/Melanoma gp100/SILV plays a central role in the biogenesis of melanosomes. Involved in the maturation of melanosomes from stage I to II. The transition from stage I melanosomes to stage II melanosomes involves an elongation of the vesicle, and the appearance within of distinct fibrillar structures. Release of the soluble form, ME20-S, could protect tumor cells from antibody mediated immunity. [UniProt]<p>The gp100 molecule is a 100kDa glycosylated protein that is cleaved into a small (26kDa) carboxy-terminal fragment and a larger amino- terminal section (60-64 kDa), which is subsequently cleaved to generate 26kDa and 34-38kDa fragments.
