Fc 11a-2, a benzimidazole compound, functions as an orally active, potent inhibitor of the NLRP3 inflammasome by blocking caspase-1 activation and thus preventing the activation of IL-1?/IL-18. Additionally, Fc 11a-2 inhibits the progression of Dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) -induced murine experimental colitis [1] [2] [3].
