Recombinant human GP1BB protein
GP1BB, also known as glycoprotein Ib platelet subunit beta/CD42c, is a member of platelet receptor family. It is part of the GPIb-V-IX system that constitutes the receptor for von Willebrand factor (VWF), and mediates platelet adhesion in the arterial circulation. This complex is composed of GPIb alpha attached to GPIb beta and non-covalently complexed with GPIX and GPV. GPIb alpha chain provides the VWF binding site, and GPIb beta contributes to surface expression of the receptor and participates in transmembrane signaling through phosphorylation of its intracellular domain. Mutations in GP1BB have been associated with Bernard–Soulier syndrome, velocardiofacial syndrome and giant platelet disorder. Recombinant human GP1BB, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in HEK293 cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
