Recombinant human ECH1 protein
ECH1 (enoyl coenzyme A hydratase 1) belongs to the hydratase/isomerase superfamily. This Protein shows high sequence similarity to enoyl-coenzyme A (CoA) hydratases of several species, particularly within a conserved domain characteristic of these proteins. It contains a C-terminal peroxisomal targeting sequence, localizes to both the peroxisome and the mitochondria. This enzyme involved in the auxiliary step of the fatty acid beta-oxidation pathway specifically functioning to catalyze the isomerization of 3-trans, 5-cis-dienoyl-CoA to 2-trans, 4-transdienoyl-CoA. Recombinant human ECH1 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
