CCL3, also known as Macrophage Inflammatory Protein-1 alpha (MIP-1α) belongs to the CC chemokine family. There are at least 27 distinct members of the C-C subgroup reported for mammals. They are characterized by two adjacent cysteines. CC chemokines induce the migration of monocytes and other cell types such as NK cells and dendritic cells.
