It was first developed in 1962 by Toshio Murashige and Folke Skoog and has since become one of the most widely used media for plant tissue culture. It contains a balanced mixture of macronutrients, micronutrients, vitamins, and plant growth regulators to provide optimal conditions for the proper growth and development of plants.
