It serves as a signal transducer, orchestrating diverse physiological and pathological processes, including cell cycle regulation, mesenchymal cell dynamics, wound healing, matrix production, immunosuppression, and carcinogenesis. Upon cytokine binding, the receptor complex activates TGFBR1 through TGFBR2 phosphorylation, initiating the canonical SMAD-dependent TGF-beta signaling cascade. Additionally, TGFBR2 participates in non-canonical, SMAD-independent pathways.
