KYNU, also known as Kynureninase protein, catalyzes the conversion of L-kynurenine and L-3-hydroxykynurenine into anthranilic acid and 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid, respectively. It displays a preference for the L-3-hydroxy form and possesses cysteine-conjugate-beta-lyase activity as well.
